Intention

Wheatland Spring is an estate brewery. This means 100% of our farming operations are dedicated to growing ingredients for our beer, focusing on acres of malting barley and other grains bred specifically for brewing. We grow the majority of grains we use to make our beer from these acres on our family owned and operated farm.

Ingredients

Since beer is an agricultural product, we take great care in growing and sourcing ingredients. Our focus is using the finest ingredients available to offer you the highest quality beer we’re capable of making. We use only craft malt in our beer. Beyond what we grow here, nearly all of the grain we use comes from small farms in the Piedmont, our agricultural region. Our water comes from a natural source deep below our land. The yeast we use for all of our farmhouse ales is native to Wheatland and was wild-captured in sight of the century old corn crib barn brewhouse.

Methods

With the highest quality ingredients in hand, our attention turns to the most effective ways to express the character of those ingredients. Our approach is almost never the most cost effective and seldom the most efficient, but we do this to coax from each ingredient its truest flavor expression. For us, this is where the art and science of brewing meet.

Land Beer is From Here

As an estate brewery that’s Farming for Fermentation, we have the opportunity to create beer unique to Wheatland Spring that reflects the agricultural character of our farm and Piedmont growing region. This is Land Beer.

We look forward to welcoming you to the farm so you’re able to experience for yourself how we marry farming and brewing.
